What is morning sickness?

NVP is often referred to as "morning sickness" although it does not necessarily occur only in the morning. It may appear at any time of the day. Moreover, some women may experience it for a short period of time, yet most will suffer for many weeks. NVP usually develops between the 4th and 6th week of pregnancy. In half of the cases it ends by the 14th to 16th week of pregnancy. Unfortunately, some women have NVP throughout their entire pregnancy. This condition can have significant effects on the wellbeing and the activities of daily living of a pregnant woman and her family. If you are suffering from NVP, you should talk to your healthcare professional. He or she may help you manage your symptoms so you can enjoy your pregnancy and keep on going with your daily and family activities.
